An new Green group for Axminster
A few Axminster Green Party members met up on 20th September and had an interesting evening putting the world to rights from a green perspective. We covered all sorts of topics including Hinkley, Brexit and the new proposal for grammar schools.
As well as chatting about the big picture, we did have some thoughts about action we could take to improve things locally including ideas such as local flood prevention schemes and a community garden. We also talked about the proposed development of houses and a north/south bypass between Lyme Road and Chard Road, and how we might want to try to influence the plans when they come forward again.
Following the meeting we got confirmation that Axminster Town Council has a fund for environmental projects and they are looking for ideas.
So if anyone in the Axminster or surrounding areas would like to socialise with some like-minded people (not restricted to Green Party members) and is interested in making a difference to the environment locally, we have arranged to meet again on 18th October at 7.30pm in the Lamb Inn, Lyme Road, Axminster and you would be very welcome to join us.
